Authentically EATalian: Healty Lifestyle Made in Italy

The Italy-America Chamber of Commerce is proud to launch its new project Authentically EATalian, the purpose of which is to promote the Mediterranean Diet as a genuine and a nourishing diet that contributes to leading a healthy lifestyle and overall physical wellbeing.

The entire project is sponsored by Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico (the Italian Ministry of Economic Development), and is organized in partnership with Assocamerestero, Italy-America Chamber of Commerce, West of Los Angeles and Gambero Rosso.

The aim of Authentically EATalian is to capture the minds of average American consumers and reinforce the idea that eating authentic Italian food contributes to a person’s wellbeing and good health. The project’s goal is also to raise awareness on how to identify “real” Italian food and avoid the “fake” / “Italian Sounding” counterparts, which lure consumers daily into believing that what they are purchasing is authentic Italian food, without fully appreciating the consequences of their misguided choices.

The Authentically EATalian project includes several events and initiatives that will take place throughout the whole 2013 year in Miami and Los Angeles, these two being recognized as having a population that places its health and wellbeing at the highest levels in America.

Michelle Obama’s campaign “Let’s Move” has been a source of inspiration for the project. “Let’s Move” was successful in introducing healthy diets in schools by replacing fried and fatty food and beverage. Similarly to “Let’s Move”, Authentically EATalian attempts to address the notoriously common problems of obesity and diabetes affecting American children and society at large, its goal being to raise awareness of the long-term benefits of Italian food and the Mediterranean diet.

The project will launch during the Miami Corporate Run, that takes place in Downtown Miami on 26th April 2013. Authentically EATalian will be present at the marathon with a stand dedicated to the Mediterranean diet and to Italian products. Furthermore, a team will represent the project by participating in the run, which will see the attendance of over 25,000 non-professional runners.

If you wish to register in the Miami Corporate Run and be part of the Authenically EATalian team, please send an email to tanti@iacc-miami.com.

Immediately after the run, on 27th and 28th April 2013, the “Authentically EATalian Weekend” event will take place in Miami. A selection of the best Italian restaurants of Miami will support this initiative by preparing exceptional menus for these evenings at special rates, basing their dishes on typically healthy products of the Mediterranean diet. A promotional campaign will back up the project, therefore local media as well as social media will be involved to promote the concept.

A series of “Interactive lessons on the Mediterranean diet” will also be presented later in the year in different Miami-Dade schools, during which chefs and nutritionists will be involved in demonstrating how to cook the best Italian foods. This is an educational campaign aimed at children as well as at parents, attempting to get everyone involved personally via several fun team projects. Of course Italian food and beverage importers will be called to participate and support these projects as well. A linked project named “Authentically EATalian in Schools” will also be launched, which will be dedicated to raising awareness of the Italian diet throughout Miami schools’ canteens and chefs, these “classes” will take place at the Miami Dade Culinary Institute.

Authentically EATalian will aim to engage consumers and market leaders by having a strong media campaign during the project’s events. The PR and communication campaigns will be undertaken in collaboration with the Gambero Rosso, the leading educational institute and publisher of reference in the Italian food and wine market. Gambero Rosso promotes quality food and beverage as well as a healthy lifestyle.
